JULY 11TH – 17TH 2027

BALANCED PRACTICE YOGA RETREAT MONTENEGRO

One week of Yoga, hikes, and breathtaking mountains at Aśuma in Lovćen National Park. Share in the wild beauty of Montenegro.

We are delighted to invite you to our first Yoga Retreat at Aśuma Retreat in Lovćen National Park, Montenegro, taking place 11th – 17th July 2027.       Join Liz and Amelia for a week in the beauty of the mountains.  Follow ancient trails along flowering meadows under piercing blue skies.  Chat around the fire pit as smoke spirals upwards in the brisk evening air. This eco-retreat immerses you deep in nature. Wake to watch the sunrise over the mountains before morning practice. Pick berries and herbs that grow wild amongst the rocks and butterflies as you walk, with birdsongs the only sounds that enter the quietude.

Only an hour or two from spectacular Bay of Kotor and the Montenegrin beaches, Aśuma offers total serenity and awe inspiring views, all the modern comforts, yet a sense of reconnection to your own inner wilds through genuine contact with nature and its elements.

For over ten years, Amelia Disspain and Liz Bennett have been guiding yoga retreats together, sharing a deep love of practice, teaching, travel, and the quiet transformation that unfolds when people step out of daily life and into sacred space.

Travel has a way of opening the mind and softening the edges of who we think we are. It asks us to see differently, to be present, and to remember the vitality that comes from wonder. Many people return from journeys like this one to feel lighter, clearer, and more connected to their “ younger” self  — not because time has reversed, but because aliveness has been restored.

AŚUMA RETREAT

Aśuma Retreat sits 1,000 meters above sea level in a wild beech forest, within Lovćen National Park, Spread over 10 hectares of land, the comfortable eco-tents almost hide between the trees. Aśuma is a glamping retreat born from the dream of creating a sacred and safe space for individuals on a journey of self-discovery, seeking to enhance their quality of life through mindful practices and choices. Whilst only seven kilometres from the old capital city of Cetinje, we feel at Aśuma a sense of peace, serenity and remoteness.

YOGA ON RETREAT

Your yoga sessions are held in Aşuma’s spacious shala, surrounded by the tranquility of beech forest. Each day on retreat includes two yoga classes, thoughtfully guided by senior yoga teacher Amelia Disspain and yoga therapist and physiotherapist Liz Bennett. Together they bring decades of teaching experience and an ongoing commitment to intelligent, individualised practice within a supportive group setting.

The morning classes are more dynamic and physical, designed to awaken the body, build strength and mobility, and cultivate vitality. These sessions weave together asana, pranayama, and meditation, offering a complete and integrated practice that prepares you for the day ahead while deepening your connection to breath and awareness.

In the afternoons, the emphasis softens. Classes become more therapeutic and interoceptive, drawing on restorative practices, mindful movement, and subtle breath work to promote deep restful sleep and healing.

With over fifty years of teaching experience between them, Amelia and Liz are skilled in tailoring group classes to respect and meet individual needs. Whether your intention is to build strength, restore mobility, or cultivate long-term wellbeing, each practice is guided with care and precision, supporting renewal in both body and mind.
