“I love yoga, with a capital L, Love yoga because it saved me.”

When I rolled out a mat and sat down (which at first was really uncomfortable, I mean who sits on the floor!?), it gave me time to be, to learn how to breathe, to stretch and move my body, to sit with myself and be in a space where I could land my feet back on the earth – literally and figuratively (actually, that in itself was really cool. Who knew our toes did so much?!)

I began to understand how to step back from the unceasing thought stream in my mind and noticed my life again. I started to sleep better, to feel happier and calm again, to loosen the tension through my shoulders and shake off the headaches. I began to understand what it meant to be in the moment, to feel the ups and downs of my day and to find the balance in between. I learnt how to meet life in the moment and I’ve never looked back.

Like many students before me and many more to come, I went to yoga because I was broken. My hips ached, my shoulders were killing me and I had no hope of touching my toes (again, who needs to do that?! that’s why our legs bend at the knees, right?). I had no idea what was waiting for me but it didn’t take me long to realise that I always walked away from yoga classes feeling much better than when I went in.

So, I was hooked. I signed up for a 500hr Teacher Training Program and off I went. My love of yoga, coupled with my background as a primary school teacher, meant I was able to combine my life joys and partake in the growth and learning of others on the mat.
Katie believes anyone can do yoga and loves sharing this path of self-inquiry with people from all walks of life.

As a mum of two young boys and curator of their wonderfully active lives, I totally get that life can get a little crazy and your time on the mat may be the calmest part of your day.”

When you attend one of Katie’s classes, be prepared to be greeted with a smile and the warm invitation to make the practice your own.

You’ll feel at ease in the class and leave with a truer sense of self, a deeper connection to your mind, your body and your breath.
